Monogenesis \Mon`o*gen"e*sis\, n. [Mono- + genesis.]

1.Oneness of origin; esp. (Biol.), development of all beings in the universe from a single cell; -- opposed to polygenesis. Called also monism. --Dana. --Haeckel. [1913 Webster]
