Pant \Pant\ (p[.a]nt), v. i. [imp. & p. p. Panted; p. pr. &
   vb. n. Panting.] [Cf. F. panteler to gasp for breath, OF.

   akin to E. phantom, the verb prob. orig. meaning, to have the
   nightmare.]
