   Braz. petun tobacco.] (Bot.)
   A genus of solanaceous herbs with funnel-form or
   salver-shaped corollas. Two species are common in
   cultivation, Petunia violacea, with reddish purple flowers,
   and Petunia nyctaginiflora, with white flowers. There are
   also many hybrid forms with variegated corollas.
