A contagious inflammatory disease of the genitourinary tract,
affecting especially the urethra and vagina, and
characterized by a mucopurulent discharge, pain in urination,
and chordee; clap. It is caused by infection with the
bacterium Neiseria gonorrheae, and is commonly transmitted
by sexual intercourse.
