Helvetica One of the most widely used sans-serif typefaces, developed in 1957 by Swiss typeface designer Max Miedinger with Eduard Hoffmann. Originally called Neue Haas Grotesk, it was renamed Helvetica for the international market. Helvetica is very similar to the common Arial typeface. The name is Latin for Swiss.
