   A genus of birds including the plains wanderer (Pedionomus
   torquatus) of New South Wales as its only species. It is the
   only genus of the family Pedionomidae of the order

   in the family. The total world population (as of ca. 2000) is
   estimated to be 5 to 10 thousand.
