Grackle \Grac"kle\, n. [Cf. L. graculus jackdaw.] (Zool.) (a) One of several American blackbirds, of the family Icterid[ae]; as, the rusty grackle (Scolecophagus Carolinus); the boat-tailed grackle (see Boat-tail); the purple grackle (Quiscalus quiscula, or Q. versicolor).
