Chalaza \Cha*la"za\, n.; pl. E. Chalazas, L. Chalaz[ae]. [NL., fr. Gr. ? hail, pimple.] 1. (Bot.) The place on an ovule, or seed, where its outer coats cohere with each other and the nucleus.
