Acrostic \A*cros"tic\, n. [Gr. ?; ? extreme + ? order, line,
   verse.]
   1. A composition, usually in verse, in which the first or the
      last letters of the lines, or certain other letters, taken
      in order, form a name, word, phrase, or motto.
