Sebesten \Se*bes"ten\ (s[-e]*b[e^]s"t[e^]n), n. [Ar. sebest[=a]n the tree: cf. Sp. sebesten.] (Bot.) The mucilaginous drupaceous fruit of two East Indian trees (Cordia Myxa, and Cordia latifolia), sometimes used medicinally in pectoral diseases.
